ARCHIVES

Ogniwo’s collections include artefacts, a reference library featuring many rare volumes, and unique archival records. The archival records collected by Ogniwo Polish Museum include unique historical and culturally valuable records that document the history of the Polish-Canadian community, the Polish diaspora in Winnipeg, and the broader Canadian immigration and settlement experience.

The archives include, among others, the papers of Mary Adamowska Panaro, member of the Order of Canada; records of Waclaw Kuzia, Polish community leader; histories (including oral histories and photographic records) of war-time and post-war political refugees and displaced persons; the records of local Polish ethnic and cultural-political organizations; and the records of Czas Polish Press, which operated in Winnipeg from 1914 to 2004.

Ogniwo’s archives are currently being processed. A full list of the Museum’s archival holdings and finding aids will be available online in the near future. Check back soon!
